about us

our story

synappro began in early 2024, at a time when Jenny Halseid's mental health was so low she couldn't leave her flat.

As an unemployed recent graduate, she couldn't afford therapy, so she turned to wellness apps for support. She quickly realised the market was broken: the apps were charging expensive yearly subscriptions, they were based on pseudoscience, and they tracked your personal data.

She decided to start coding herself to build the products she needed. The goal was simple: to create wellbeing apps that are free to use, based on science, and confidential.

Since then, synappro has grown beyond apps. In 2026, the company expanded into sounds and sessions, bringing wellness into busy spaces, meeting people where they are.

Our story

we're building the wellbeing solutions we needed them most

mission & vision

our mission is to make science-based wellbeing genuinely accessible to everyone, regardless of budget, background, or prior knowledge. Through apps, sounds, and shared experiences, we translate research into something people can actually feel, use, and build lasting habits around.

our vision is a world where caring for your mind and body is woven into everyday life: into the spaces we inhabit, the routines we keep, and the communities we belong to. Not a privilege for the few, but something everyone has access to.

Our mission and vision

our expertise

Jenny Halseid holds a BA in music production and sound engineering and an MSc in the psychology and neuroscience of music, where she specialised in anxiety. Her work is shaped by both research and lived experience, alongside a deep understanding of how music can influence the nervous system.

When she founded synappro, she taught herself to design and build apps and websites from scratch. She is currently completing a level 6 diploma in machine learning, where she's spending a year developing modern tech solutions under the synappro brand.

synappro is also shaped by medical expertise through Dr Ernest Wong, a medical doctor and statistician with a diploma in medical education. His role is to ensure that the research behind synappro's products is carefully evaluated and grounded in high-quality evidence, while making complex findings clear and accessible.

Together, this combination of lived experience, scientific understanding, and technical ability allows synappro to build products that are both evidence-based and genuinely helpful.

how we work

01

accessibility

Everything we make is free or fairly priced. The wellness industry runs on premium pricing, which means the people who need support the most are often the ones who can least afford it. We think that is the wrong way round.

02

science

Everything we create is grounded in peer-reviewed research and evaluated by people with the qualifications to assess it. There is a lot of noise in the wellness space, and most of it is not backed by evidence. That makes it genuinely hard to know what works. We hold ourselves to that standard because we want to be certain that what we offer can genuinely improve people's lives.

03

clarity

We work hard to make the science behind what we do genuinely clear and relatable. Understanding why something works changes your relationship to it. When you know what is happening in your mind and body, you become far more motivated to take care of it. That understanding is what turns knowledge into habit.

our name

synappro = synapse + progress

synappro is named in honour of neuroplasticity: the brain's remarkable ability to rewire itself in response to knowledge, habit, and experience.

synap(se) — a synapse is the junction between two neurons, the point where one nerve cell passes a signal to the next. Every process in the mind and body depends on signals crossing synapses: thought, memory, movement, breathing, sleep.

pro — progress. When we repeat an action, new synapses form and existing ones strengthen. This is neuroplasticity: the brain literally rewiring itself through habit. With the right knowledge and consistent practice, we can reshape how we think, feel, and respond to the world.

synappro is built on the belief that understanding the science of your own mind and body is what motivates lasting change. That knowledge, turned into small daily habits, is what reduces stress and overwhelm, and builds a life with more peace, energy, and happiness.
